Do not waste money on fertilizer for cheap crops. Fertilizer is strictly for the "Long Game" crops. Quality multiplier bonuses only affect the base price significantly on high-value items. A "Star Quality" Turnip earns you pocket change; a "Star Quality" Melon buys you a tool upgrade.
