Before opening your web browser, ensure you have the following components ready:

Once you’ve finished the configuration on the index2.asp page, the placement of your extender is key. The "Sweet Spot" is usually between your router and the dead zone. Most Edimax extenders have signal strength LEDs; aim for a spot where the light is green or blue, indicating a strong link to the base router. Edimaxext.setup Index2.asp

When a user types this address, they are often in a state of mild frustration. They are likely staring at a blinking LED light, struggling with a dead zone in a bedroom or a patio. They are attempting to bend the laws of physics to make a radio signal travel further than intended. Index2.asp is the control panel for this rebellion. It is the screen where the user inputs the password of the main router, effectively forging a bridge between two isolated islands of connectivity. The success or failure of the connection hinges on what happens on this specific page.

If that does not work, try the IP address http://192.168.9.1 . The browser should load the setup page. The page should refresh and redirect you to

Locate the physical Reset button on the side or bottom of the Edimax extender. Use a paperclip to press and hold the button for 10 seconds while the device is plugged in. Release it, wait for the LEDs to blink, and start the setup process again using the default credentials.

“this is alas just another film that panders to the image Thompson himself tried to shirk – the reckless buffoon that is more at home on fraternity posters than library shelves. It is a missed opportunity to take the man seriously.”

This is an excellent summary on the attitude of the seeming majority of HST ‘admirers’.
It just makes me think that they read Fear and Loathing, looked up similar stories of HST’s unhinged behaviour and didn’t bother with the rest of his work.

There is such a raw, human element of Thompsons work, showing an amazing mind, sense of humour, critical thinking and an uncanny ability to have his finger on the pulse of many issues of his time.
Booze feature prominently in most of his writing and he is always flirting with ‘the edge’, but this obsession with remembering him more as Raoul Duke and less as Hunter Thompson, is a sad reflection of most ‘fans’; even if it was a self inflicted wound by Thompson himself.
